Basic application conditions
Hong Kong and Macau residents, foreign nationals, and nationals without household registration may apply to come to Taiwan on the grounds of “ applying for employment ” if they have obtained a work permit issued by the competent authority and meet other relevant application requirements.
Depending on the type of work permit, the competent authority, permit validity period, and application conditions are different.
In addition, the types of entry and exit documents or Taiwan stay/residence documents that can be applied for will also vary according to the applicant's nationality, type of work permit and the length of validity.

The paid-in capital or operating capital in Taiwan is over NT$500,000, the turnover is over NT$3 million, the total import and export performance is over US$500,000, or the agency commission is over US$200,000.
Established for more than one year:
The average turnover in Taiwan in the last year or the previous three years is over NT$3 million, the average total import and export performance is over US$500,000, or the average agency commission is over US$200,000.

Hong Kong and Macau Residents: Settled
Only those overseas graduates who are employed in Taiwan after graduation can apply for settlement and then obtain Taiwanese citizenship.
If the applicant has not studied and graduated in Taiwan as an overseas Chinese, but has come to work in Taiwan as an applicant for residency after studying in another country, no matter how many years he has experienced, he cannot apply for settlement.
Hong Kong and Macao residents who wish to apply for residency by applying for residency must meet the following three basic conditions:
Approved by the central competent business authority to come to Taiwan as a scholar and graduate (after graduation from overseas students).
Engaged in qualified work in Taiwan for 5 consecutive years, and lived in Taiwan for more than 183 days each year.
Calculated one year from the date of application for settlement, the average monthly income in Taiwan is twice the published basic salary.

Foreigners: Permanent Residence/Naturalization
Foreigners who reside in Taiwan by applying for residency may apply later
Permanent Residence:
Must legally reside in Taiwan for 5 consecutive years, more than 183 days per year, and meet other relevant conditions. Those who have obtained a permanent residence permit do not acquire the nationality of the ROC.
Naturalized Nationality:
You must legally and continuously reside in Taiwan for 5 years, more than 183 days per year, and meet other relevant conditions. In principle, you must renounce your original nationality, except for those with exceptional circumstances. Those who have obtained the naturalization permit have the nationality of the Republic of China.
Unregistered nationals: settled
Nationals without registered permanent residence who reside in Taiwan by applying for residency can apply for settlement in the future, and then set up in Taiwan to obtain a ROC ID card and a ROC passport with the uniform number of the national ID card.
Applicants must meet one of the following conditions for staying in Taiwan and meet other relevant conditions:
Live in Taiwan for 3 consecutive years; or
Have lived in Taiwan for 5 years and more than 270 days per year; or
Have lived in Taiwan for 7 years and lived for more than 183 days per year.
